Suresh Raina climbs eight places, India maintain top-spot in ICC ODI rankings

Riding on a superb form in the recently concluded limited-overs series against England, Suresh Raina has broken into the top-20 of latest ICC batsmen’s rankings, while India remained on top in the team’s standings released by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Raina enjoyed a superb run of form and scored a scorching hundred in the second one-dayer and the Indian middle-order batsman is now 19th on the list. Virat Kohli, despite being out of form, is the highest-ranked Indian on third, followed by skipper MS Dhoni (sixth) and Shikhar Dhawan (seventh).

South African skipper AB de Villiers is at the top, followed by countryman Hashim Amla on second. Following an outstanding tri-series in Zimbabwe, Proteas Faf du Plessis is now 11th in the rankings, ahead of Misbah-ul-Haq and Kane Williamson.

Ravindra Jadeja, meanwhile, is the highest-ranked Indian bowler on fifth position in the rankings. The left-arm spinner picked seven wickets against England and also displayed Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan from third place in the all-rounders’ list.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar is ranked 14th, off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is 16th, while pacer Mohammed Shami has moved eight places to 21st. The bowlers’ standing is topped by Pakistan’s Saeed Ajmal, who is facing ICC scrutiny for suspected action. Sunil Narine of West Indies is second, followed by Dale Steyn and James Anderson.

Meanwhile, in teams’ standings India is at the top, followed by South Africa and Sri Lanka. Australia is fourth, England is fifth, Pakistan is sixth, New Zealand is seventh, followed by West Indies, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe.

In T20 rankings, the Lankan Lions are at the top, followed by Team India, Pakistan, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, West Indies and England.
