Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Sarfaraz Khan was a real revelation against the Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday night. He had just finished a breezy knock of 45 from 21 balls and his captain Virat Kohli came towards him with folded hands.

It was followed by an affectionate tap on the head. This gesture from Kohli goes to show how mesmerized he was after seeing the 17-year-old in action. This is probably the beginning of a new chapter in Indian cricket.

There a few in the commentary team who hailed him as the new Javed Miandad of RCB while some were reminded of Miandad on 70s. Former England captain Michael Vaughan said: “My word…. 17 years old…. Sarfaraz Khan… Incredible talent….”

In other words, Sarfaraz’s knock created a huge uproar and everyone had something to say on this new kid on the block. He had taken the social media by storm.

This young batsman from Mumbai came into bat after AB de Villiers rescued RCB and took the score to 124 for 4 at the end of the 14th over. From there, it was a Sarfaraz show that saw RCB making 200 for seven. He struck six fours and a six to bring a loud cheer to the RCB fans.

Besides everything else, a junior cricket always adds excitement to a team. And, if he performs like Sarfaraz did, that player becomes a lot more special in the team.

Unfortunately, the RCB-Royals match was cancelled due to incessant rainfall after the first essay of the match. But this match has probably given birth to a young star!
