Ravi Shastri on MS Dhoni: He Can Still Play Test Cricket

India limited-overs captain MS Dhoni is probably the fittest player in the international circuit. His running between the wickets, and big-hitting abilities is unmatchable.

Former Indian Cricket Team director, Ravi Shastri has insisted that Dhoni still has the fitness level to play all formats of the game, including Test cricket.

Shastri said Dhoni’s decision of retiring in 2014 was a shocker for him, as he felt that the Ranchi-born had it him to play five days cricket.

“I was totally surprised. He had us in shock,” Shastri said. “He just came up and told us about his decision. I still feel he can play all three formats of the game. He is so fit, he is so consistent.”

Shastri also praised MS Dhoni for leading the Indian Cricket Team to various championship triumphs, while terming him a great ambassador of the game.

“He goes about his job in a very unassuming manner,” Shastri said. “That’s why you don’t notice it. If you go down history, he’s been around for 10-12 years now. He’s won literally every competition there is to win.”

“What else do you want from an individual? He has carried the Indian flag outstandingly well,” he added. “He is a great ambassador for the game, not just for India.”
