Indies abruptly ended their India tour owing to a pay dispute with the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB), leaving the country immediately after the fourth one-dayer at HPCA Stadium.

This, however, was the not the first time a tour ended in this fashion. Below are the list of tours that ended abruptly:

West Indies in England 1939: The West Indies tour of England was cancelled because of the Second World War in 1939. The final seven matches of the tour couldn’t take place and the Windies team departed to the Caribbean.

England in Pakistan 1968/69: England’s tour of Pakistan was marred by riots and political unrest and ultimately cancelled. In Karachi, the match was called off on the third day due to student unrest and the series tied at 0-0.

India in Pakistan 1984/85: The final three matches of the series between Pakistan and India were cancelled following the assassination of then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

Sri Lanka in Pakistan 2008/09: Considered as one of the ugliest chapters in cricketing history, Sri Lanka cricket team bus was attacked by terrorists on their way to the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. Six Lankan players got injured in the incident and the Islanders left the country within hours.

West Indies in India 2014: A pay dispute between West Indies Cricket Board and the players led to the cancellation of the series abruptly. The Caribbean team was to play five ODIs, one-off T20 and three Tests, but only competed in four one-dayers.
