It has been confirmed that India limited-over skipper MS Dhoni will be playing in the domestic competition, after been named in the Jharkhand squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
MS Dhoni last played domestic cricket in 2007 for East Zone, and almost after eight years he will be playing his trades in the domestic competition, as India prepares for the World T20.
“We have spoken to Dhoni and he has said that in all likelihood he will be available (if there’s no Pakistan series) to play for Jharkhand in Vijay Hazare Trophy,” Jharkhand State Cricket Association’s secretary Rajesh Verma said.
“We have not discussed as to how many matches he will play or whether he would like to lead the side. But if he wants obviously, he will lead the side.”
“His presence obviously will be a great boost for the boys,” Rajesh Verma concluded. “Whenever Dhoni has got an opportunity, he has had encouraging words for the boys.”
Interestingly, MS Dhoni will not be captaining the side, as pacer Varun Aaron will lead the team in the tournament that will be played in Bengaluru from December 10 to 18.
