MS Dhoni has handed over the captaincy baton to Virat Kohli in the limited-overs format as well. The chairman of selectors, MSK Prasad, was one of the first few official of the BCCI to know about the decision.
Prasad termed Dhoni “a brand ambassador of Indian cricket”. He further said that Dhoni always keeps national interest over his personal agendas. Prasad pointed out that Dhoni presence in the team will also help the youngsters.

“He is a true servant of the nation and the game,” Prasad said. “His talks revolve around topics like passion, commitment, integrity and patriotism. India are very fortunate to have someone like him represent them.”
“He is a brand ambassador of Indian cricket. He stayed with the boys, mentored them and had team meetings. There is a thin line between emotion and profession. And, he has taken a professional call.”

Dhoni, meanwhile, will continue to play as a wicketkeeper-batsman. He will play three one-dayers, followed by three T20 matches against England. Dhoni will also play a practice match for India A before the series.
