One of biggest factors behind Chennai Super Kings’ super success is the contribution of their coach Steven Fleming. None one has coached a single team in the IPL for such a long time like Fleming.
The second factor, which contributed to this team’s success over the years, is the rapport between captain MS Dhoni and Fleming. Their style of functioning has several things in common.
Like Dhoni, Fleming doesn’t make much noise about team’s success and goes around doing his work like any other professional. Their relation has grown over the years and that is one of the reasons why CSK is the most sought after team in the IPL circuit.
In this team, everything is cricket centric and the success of the team in last eight seasons speaks for itself. Unlike last two seasons, CSK are even looking better team this year in terms of performances in the league stages.
And so, when the Kolkata Knight Riders take on CSK at the Chepauk stadium on Tuesday, it will be a match to watch out for. From six matches both CSK and KKR have 10 and seven points respectively and for the first time both teams will be playing against each other in the competition this year.
Out of 14 matches in the past, CSK have won nine of them and, in last five matches, Dhoni’s team has won three of the encounters. For KKR, the question mark over the availability of Sunil Narine has been frustrating.
They are thinking too much of about the West Indies spinner rather than concentrating on things which are within their grasp. This is when a coach becomes a relevant subject. This is where Fleming has scored the maximum points.
At this level, a coach is not expected to teach the basics of the game to the big players, a fine tuning is all that matters, which Fleming does so well!
