The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a 14-member squad for the first three ODIs against West Indies, starting October 8 in Kochi.

Left-arm chinaman Kuldeep Yadav, who is playing for Kolkata Knight Riders, has got his maiden call up for the Indian team, while leg-spinner Amit Mishra is also recalled in the team.

Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is only notable omission from the team as he has been rested for the limited-overs series.

Meanwhile, Sanju Samson, who was part of the Indian team for England tour, is dropped from the team. All-rounder Stuart Binny and pacer Dhawal Kulkarni have also failed to make the cut.

Rohit Sharma, who is nursing multiple injuries, is not included in the squad, which means Shikhar Dhawan and Ajinkya Rahane are likely to open the innings, despite having Murali Vijay in the squad.

Team India, as usual, has a rock solid batting order, featuring Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu and skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

The selectors have retained speedster Umesh Yadav in the team, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammad Shami and Mohit Sharma are other pacers.

Meanwhile, Karn Sharma, who made his debut against England in a one-off Twenty20 in the England tour, is left out of the squad.

Indian Squad for first three ODIs: MS Dhoni (c & wk), Shikhar Dhawan, Ajinkya Rahane, Virat Kohli, Ambati Rayudu, Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, Amit Mishra, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami, Mohit Sharma, Umesh Yadav, M Vijay and Kuldeep Yadav.
