The Kolkata Knight Riders are clearly ahead when they take on the Kings XI Punjab in Pune on Saturday. Out of 15 encounters against each other, the KKR team has won nine of them while the Kings have six wins under their belt.
Last time, both the teams locked horns against each other it was last year’s IPL final match in Bangalore, which KKR won by three wickets. So far in the IPL history, KKR have 51.88 winning percentage while the Kings are closely behind them with a 51.83 per cent winning rate.
But this is a new season and both the teams have fresh challenges ahead of them. KKR started their IPL season with a bang but lost a little bit of their fizz against the Royals Challengers Bangalore. From last three matches, they have two win. In comparison, the Kings have only one win from last three matches. Can they take a revenge of sorts by beating KKR in this match?
KKR are big team in terms of playing pressure matches. In the past, they have won matches from losing positions while the Kings have started to perform very consistently since last year. They have, after all, one of the best teams on paper.
In terms of strength, not many can match the Kings. Still, they ran out of steam in two matches. First they lost to the Rajasthan Royals and then to Delhi Daredevils. In both these matches, they could have stamped their authority, but couldn’t live up to their expectations. So, this match against KKR will test their nerves once again.
