Young Team India, led by Ajinkya Rahane, completed a 3-0 whitewash over Zimbabwe in the ODI series, as the hosts failed to put any resistance in the series, leave alone the first ODI.

Zimbabwe was termed as a threat for the second-string Indian cricket team at home, but they were swept aside comprehensively by the visitors at the Harare Sports Club.

Middle-order batsman Kedar Jadhav credited batsmen for the series win, saying they did excellent job posting par totals in all three one-dayers.

“We never felt that it will be a 3-0 scoreline,” Jadhav insisted. “We always knew that they would be tough to beat on their home soil.”

“It was challenging, especially batting first in all three games, but our batters did an excellent job to put up a 250-plus score in every game,” he added. “That’s where I feel we won the games.”

Jadhav himself made a hundred, his first, in the 3rd ODI, to help India recover from early jolts, along with debutant Manish Pandey.

Pandey finished off with a flowing 71, while Jadhav played till the end and made an unbeaten century. Jadhav paced his innings nicely and ensured India post an imposing total on the board.

Till 35 overs, India could only manage to score 138 runs, but the batsman managed to yield 138 runs more in next 15 overs.

“I feel on these pitches they are pretty effective but in some other parts of the world they have to work on some areas,” Jadhav said. “I feel especially the death bowling is where they need to improve.”

In reply, Zimbabwe failed to match India’s total and lost the game by 83 runs, despite a fighting knock from opener Chamu Chibhabha.
