Mumbai Indians have confirmed that West Indies pacer Jerome Taylor has replaced Lasith Malinga for the remaining matches of the Indian Premier League.

The defending champions Mumbai Indians have confirmed in a statement that Taylor is set to join the squad, as his appointment has been approved by the IPL.

Mumbai Indians informed in the statement: Mumbai Indians have roped in West Indies pacer Jerome Taylor as the replacement for Lasith Malinga in IPL 2016 who has been ruled out for the season with a recurring knee injury.

Taylor was previously part of Kings XI Punjab, and now defunct Pune Warriors India. He, however, never featured for the Kings XI, but played five matches for Pune.

He was part of the West Indies team which won the World T20. Taylor, so far, has taken 124 wickets in 81 matches, while he has 130 wickets in 46 matches.

Malinga, meanwhile, has been out of action since February and also missed the World T20 in India. Mumbai waited for their bowling spearhead to gain full fitness, but ultimately he was ruled out the tournament.

The Sri Lankan pacer last featured in a competitive game during the Asia Cup T20, and since then has struggled to keep up with his injured knee.
