India vs Sri Lanka Asia Cup: Team India’s Playing XI against Lankan Lions

Owing to some injury concerns ahead of facing Sri Lanka, India are most likely to make a few changes in their playing XI in Mirpur today.

Rohit Sharma, who injured his toe against Pakistan, is unlikely to play today, as it may increase the soreness and put him out of the remaining games.

That means Ajinkya Rahane will continue to feature in the playing XI. In the last game, he had replaced Shikhar Dhawan, who is nursing an ankle injury.

Dhawan, despite looking rusty in the practice session, will play India’s third Asia Cup match. He will be opening the innings with Rahane in Mirpur.

There is a possibility of Pawan Negi making his India debut, but seeing how captain MS Dhoni operates, he would want to play with the winning combination.

It is unlikely that India will be making any more changes, especially in the bowling department, which is doing its job perfectly at the moment.

“Our death bowling could definitely be much better than what it was in the past so that gives a lot of confidence,” Ravichandran Ashwin said.

“We can go about our middle overs with a lot more attacking instinct, to try and pick up wickets to seal things off,” he added. “That’s definitely a positive.”

India Playing XI (possible): Shikhar Dhawan, Ajinkya Rahane, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Yuvraj Singh, MS Dhoni (c & wk), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ashish Nehra and Jasprit Bumrah.

Sri Lanka Playing XI (possible): Dinesh Chandimal (wk), Tillakaratne Dilshan, Milinda Siriwardana, Dasun Shanaka, Angelo Mathews, Chamara Kapugedara, Shehan Jayasuriya, Nuwan Kulasekara, Rangana Herath, Dushmantha Chameera and Lasith Malinga (c).
