The Indian team made some amendments from the last game and they paid off against South Africa. In a must-win encounter at The Oval, the Indian bowlers rose to the occasion and delivered a stellar performance.
India bundled the Proteas to a paltry 191 inside 45 overs, courtesy a disciplined bowling and fielding effort. The defending champions should not face too many troubles to chase down the target, and seal a semifinal spot.

India kept the pressure on right from winning the toss. They maintained tight line and lengths and never allowed the Proteas openers to cut loose. Hashim Amla and Quinton de Kock struggled to score runs freely and it cost them dear.
Once the opening stand was broken, India seized the advantage with spin of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. Also, some needless run outs of AB de Villers and David Miller only added to their misery.
Importantly, Indian pacers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah didn’t allow South Africa’s tail to wag.
“Great performance, especially against South Africa, who score even off good deliveries,” Bhuvneshwar said. “Team depends on me to take early wickets. Trying to bowl cross-seam to get something off the wicket.”
