Things could be really get difficult for Shikhar Dhawan after two failures in the Kolkata Test. In place of injured KL Rahul, Dhawan got a look in ahead of experienced and in-form Gautam Gambhir.
Unfortunately, nothing worked for Dhawan. In the first innings, he didn’t get time to settle down and dragged one to the stumps. In the second innings, though, he got out just when things were looking settled.

At one level, you can’t expect a Dhawan to score big runs, almost at a gunpoint. It doesn’t work like that in cricket. A leading team like India should back continuity.
The fact that the team management picked Dhawan ahead of Gambhir in the playing XI, it should again stick to the same combination for the Indore Test if India would win the Kolkata tie.

That is generally the law of the game and this is something even the likes of Virat Kohli has often spoken about it in public. At another level, the team management has then backed Rohit Sharma for his talent and decided to give him an extended run in Test cricket. It’s already paying rich dividend.
Rohit is certainly showing remarkable improvements. He is going from strength to strength, Who knows, even Dhawan could get back his lost touch if his team continue to back him. He is after all a second opening choice of his team.
