India and Australia are fierce rivals on the field, and more often than not players of both teams are seen exchanging verbal gestured during the match.

When India last toured Australia, players from both teams – David Warner, Virat Kohli, Shane Watson and Shikhar Dhawan – were see having verbal altercations.

India captain MS Dhoni, who is one of the rare calm figures on the field, played down the talks that his team will be gunning for any sort of revenge against Australia.

Dhoni, in the press conference ahead of the 1st ODI at the WACA, said that there is no place for words like revenge and hatred in the gentleman’s sport.

“When it comes to sport and cricket, I don’t think revenge and hate are words that should be used,” Dhoni said. “Because then on the same line we’ll say it’s a gentleman’s sport, so it becomes quite conflicting.

“You want to compete,” Dhoni added. “You want to win games, because at the end of the day you are representing your country and you want to win.”

“But at the same time, you want to follow the guidelines I’ve been given – the spirit of the game and everything.”

India will be starting their month long tour, in which they are to play five ODIs and three T20s, with the opening one-dayer at the WACA, Perth.
