BCCI determined to give sufficient break to players in FTP

When the last Future Tour Programme (FTP) was decided, the BCCI didn’t think too much about how physically challenging it would get for players to stay in Australia for a protracted period of time.

Even Team India director Ravi Shastri was quoted as saying, in the media, that the tri-series was a waste of time for the team.

“You need to give adequate time to the players to unwind. Physically a tour abroad is very challenging and this FTP was signed nearly eight years ago,” a top BCCI official said, in support of the popular stance.

The World Cup, however, turned out to be perfect for India as there are atleast five to six days between every league match. The board is now determined to sign FTP with other countries with sufficient breaks for the players, another official added.
