Batting maestro Tendulkar to join Bradman honourees’ list

Sachin Tendulkar has a long list of achievements and it is getting longer, as the batting legend is to be inducted into the Bradman honourees club.

The Bradman Foundation was in Tendulkar’s touch for about a year and the former Indian skipper showed interest in attending the Gala event at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Tendulkar, along with former Australia captain Steve Waugh, will be inducted into the list, confirmed foundation’s executive director Rina Hore.

“We first approached him last year and he said he was interested as he has such a great interest in Bradman and knows about the work we do at the foundation,” Hore said.

“We were in India last month to discuss touring next year with a travelling exhibition and met with his manager, who said his attendance depended on the fixture for his football team,” she added.

Don Bradman, on whom the Bradman Foundation is made, was a big admirer of Tendulkar. He once said that the Indian batsman reminds him of his playing days.

Tendulkar met Bradman in 1998 and termed it as the highlight of his career. During his playing days, Tendulkar was always compared with Bradman because of his playing style.
