Australia vs India: Injured Mitchell Marsh ruled out of Sydney Test

Mitchell Marsh, who sustained a hamstring injury in his right leg during the second Test against India, has been ruled out of the Test series against India.

Australia’s physiotherapist, Alex Kountouris, said that the all-rounder went for scans on Saturday after complaining of soreness the previous night. The results suggest he will not recover soon enough to be able to take part in the fourth Test in Sydney.

“Mitchell Marsh had scans on his injured hamstring this morning after reporting some soreness yesterday,” Kountouris said. “The scans confirm that he has suffered a setback in his rehab and will not be available for the Sydney Test match.”

Marsh limped off the field after pulling his hamstring during the Brisbane Test and was undergoing rehabilitation, forcing him to sit out the MCG Test.

He went for a run on Friday, following which he experienced soreness in the affected area. While the Test series is over for the Australian all-rounder, the team is hopeful for him to be fit for the tri-nation ODI series following the Tests, involving Australia, India and England.

“Our focus for Mitchell will now be on his return to one-day cricket as we lead into the Tri-Series,” Kountouris said.

David Warner did not take field at the MCG as India began their first innings in the third session on day-two. He was hit on his right forearm while batting in the nets this morning. The left-handed opener has suffered significant bruises limiting his ability to field.
