The Indian team might have to miss its regular wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha for the entire England Test series.

Saha is yet to recover from a thigh injury that he sustained after the 2nd Test in Vizag. He was subsequently replaced by Parthiv Patel for the 3rd Test in Mohali. Parthiv filled-in for Saha pretty well, and contributed with the bat as well.

According to India’s selection policy, players need to prove match fitness in domestic competitions. Saha, however, will also miss the 5th Test in Chennai, as he might not able to prove his match fitness to the team management.

Bengal’s next play Madhya Pradesh on December 7 in their Ranji Trophy tie. It is unlikely that he gain fitness for the Ranji match in time. This means Parthiv Patel will continue to keep wickets for the Indian team.

Opener KL Rahul will return for the 4th Test in Mumbai. He will open the innings with Murali Vijay. Parthiv will bat in the middle-order, while Karun Nair will be replaced in the upcoming game.
