South Africa showed incredible temperament and mental strength in Kotla, they managed to negotiate four out of five sessions, but eventually Team India managed to breach through their defences to clinch the Test.
If it was Hashim Amla who dropped the anchor on the 4th day, it was AB de Villiers turn to hold the fortress for South Africa on the 5th. AB de Villiers showed nonparallel resilience, but a blip in concentration was all Team India needed.
The task of playing through the day was always going to be difficult, but as AB de Villiers was dismissed by Ravichandran Ashwin, it was just a matter of time for Team India to bundle out South Africa.
Umesh Yadav ripped through South Africa tail, dismissing Dane Villas, Kyle Abbott and Dane Piedt, as the Proteas were bundled for a paltry 143, and Team India clinched the four-match series 3-0.
Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin finished the game with a fifer, Umesh Yadav took three, while Ravindra Jadeja finished with a couple of crucial breakthroughs. Ravindra Jadeja also took a fifer in the first innings.
Ajinkya Rahane stood out with the bat for India, as he struck two centuries for Team India in the match, while skipper Virat Kohli also made useful contribution in the second innings.
