Samuels disagrees with Bravo, insists never said ‘going to stand by any decision’

The West Indies cricket is going through all sorts of troubles, as after a tiff between the board and players because of pay dispute, Marlon Samuels has denied supporting the team’s decision of abruptly ending the India tour after the fourth ODI.

Windies were to play five ODIs, one Twenty20 and three-match Test series but left India after the fourth one-dayer at Dharamshala. The Caribbean skipper Dwayne Bravo earlier said it was a team decision and Samuels had given his consent for it.

Windies all-rounder, who finished with two centuries in the series, bluntly rejected Bravo’s claims. The Jamaican insisted that it was an individual decision to be with the majority and he wasn’t satisfied with the call taken by the team.

“No, I did not say that I am going to stand by any decision,” Samuels said. “Because nobody asked me questions like that. It is up to the individual to say okay I am with you. You had people in the room that didn’t even open their mouth or say anything.”

“At the end of the day, I went there and asked my questions and I wasn’t satisfied (by the response),” he added. “If I was satisfied then I will be the first person to come out because I am an outspoken person. Then I will be the first person to come out and defend everything with (Bravo).”

Samuels, however, pointed out that West Indies Players Association (WIPA) president and CEO Wavell Hinds was at direct fault, but added that the Windies players, West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) and WIPA messed up the situation.

This is the second time Samuels has shown disagreement with Bravo publically in less than a week. The Jamaican earlier said that he was relaxing at the hotel when other players were engaged in meetings as he wanted to continue the tour.
