Rising Pune Supergiants Lacking in Bowling Department: MS Dhoni

After succumbing to fourth defeat in a row, Rising Pune Supergiants captain MS Dhoni, quite understandably, wasn’t pleased with his team’s performance against Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday night.

It was a frustrating defeat for the Supergiants, who failed to defend a competitive total on a track, which was offering plenty of assistance to slow bowlers.

Both Pune spinners, Ravichandran Ashwin and Murugan Ashwin, failed to create pressure over the Knight Riders and leaked plenty of runs, including the extras.

“No excuses for us. It’s not about what should have happened,” Dhoni said in the post-match presentation. “It’s about how you execute your plans in the field.”

“That is when you relish it and what it takes to win games in the pressure,” he added. “We are definitely lacking it, especially the bowling unit.”

Dhoni, however, acknowledged that there is pressure on youngsters, who are not part of first team setups for their domestic and international sides.

“Someone like an (Murugan) Ashwin, he is new and he will feel the pressure,” Dhoni said. “You can advise individuals, but when you have the ball, nothing can be done for you. Overall plenty of areas where we have to improve.”
