Suresh Raina ready for fresh challenge

Suresh Raina

Suresh Raina may have had a very ordinary comeback in Test cricket and was dismissed twice without any score, you will see a different Raina when he takes his guard in the upcoming tri-series involving hosts Australia and England. According to source close to the cricketer, the left-hander was not in the best of mood after the Sydney Test match, which India drew and eventually lost the series to Australia 2-0, but he has taken this failures in his stride.

“Raina would surely make a strong comeback. He will bring a fresh lease of life in to this team when the tri-series begins. Since the ODI series in England, he has been in good form and was duly rewarded with a Test berth. Now that the Test series is over, his focus is to do well for the Indian ODI team. He is a very important part of India’s ODI scheme of things,” a source close to the team management said after the Sydney Test match.

Whatever happened in Sydney could happen to any batsman making a comeback, how you come out of it is something that separates men from boys. Fortunately, Raina has loads of runs behind him in shorter format of the game and he knows how to handle this. Remember, he bats in a position which is designated to finish off game in style. “Raina is ready for that and there is no reason to worry,” the source added.

Then, what happens to his Test career. There is absolutely no need to discuss about his Test future now because the Indian team is not playing Test cricket anytime soon. It would be around October or November when India would again play a Test series against the South Africans at home. Presently, Raina is concentrating on the tri-series and the all-important 2015 World Cup.
