Virat Kohli is leading the Indian Test side for almost an year now. Still, former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar is not convinced that he should be leading the Indian team in the limited-overs format.

Gavaskar, while talking to NDTV, insisted that there is no need to rush Kohli into the captaincy as he still has plenty to learn as a skipper.

“Virat should not be rushed into captaincy in all formats. Let him grow into this role,” Gavaskar insisted. “2019 World Cup is far away.”

Kohli is currently leading Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League, and they are currently at the bottom third of the points table.

Gavaskar, meanwhile, insisted that bowlers have let Kohli down in the tournament. “Bowlers have let Bangalore down in IPL. Kohli is as good as his team,” Gavaskar pointed out.

MS Dhoni is currently leading India in the limited-overs format (ODIs and T20s), and has made it clear that he is not hanging his boots any time soon.

Still, one of the fittest and quickest at the international level, Dhoni has an unmatchable record. Recently, he led Indian Cricket Team to the semifinal of the World T20.
