The relation between India and Pakistan has not been rosy lately and it’s been a while that these two neighbors have faced each other. They often cross paths in ICC events, like the Champions Trophy and Asia Cup, but a bilateral series is missing.
Pakistan last toured India in 2013 for playing three one day internationals, which the visitors won 2-1, while Team India last visited Pakistan in 2006 for playing three Tests and five one-dayers.
The bilateral ties between India and Pakistan are set to revive as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman, Shahryar Khan has revealed that he is to commence talks with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to organise a “bilateral series soon”.
“Whether it is Jagmohan Dalmiya, the late Raj Singh Dungarpur or N Srinivasan I have good relations with them and I will soon talk to them about Indo-Pak cricket relations,” Shahryar Khan informed.
Pakistan players are not allowed to participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL), however in the Champions League Twenty20 Lahore Lions are allowed to play. The PCB chief said that he will also hold discussions to include Pakistan players in the franchisee-based league.
“We have been caught up in affairs of the Pakistan team but I intend to talk to the BCCI soon about the Champions League and the participation of our players in the IPL and restoration of bilateral ties,” Khan said.
Khan pointed out the importance of play the IPL and Champions League T20 and insisted that the relationship between BCCI and PCB were never on the rocks.
“It is necessary for our players to also take part in the Champions League and IPL and I think it can be done,” Khan pointed out. “We value relations with the BCCI because bilateral series have always helped the two boards a lot financially and we need to resume our bilateral ties soon to boost our financial position as well.”
