Cricket’s biggest rivalry will be seen in the 2017 Champions Trophy, when defending champions India will face archrivals Pakistan on June 4 in Edgbaston.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the schedule of next year’s tournament, featuring eight teams – India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and England.

Only two full members countries, West Indies and Zimbabwe, will not be taking part in the tournament because of their low ICC Rankings.

ICC Champions Trophy Schedule

The tournament will be played in England and Wales across three venues – Edgbaston, The Oval and Cardiff. The opening match of the Champions Trophy will take place on June 1, while the final will take place at The Oval on June 18.

Eight teams are divided into two groups. Two top team from each group will reach the semifinals that are slated to take place in Cardiff and Edgbaston, while the final will be played at The Oval on the 18th of June.

“The ICC Champions Trophy 2017 is not just an ODI competition, it carries a great deal of value since it is being played just three months before the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 qualification cut-off date,” Dave Richardson said. “As such, every point earned here could be crucial.”
