Support can come from the most unexpected quarters. Ask Ravichandran Ashwin, the Chennai- based off-spinner got commendation from none other than his once-competitor, Harbhajan Singh.
The latter remarked that Ashwin is the best bet for the Indian spin department during the World Cup in Australia. “Ashwin bowls like a bowler and that is important at this level,” Harbhajan said, while showering praises on the lanky spinner at a cricket conclave, in the capital, on Monday.
“Ashwin knows his plans when he is bowling. He has a lot of variations as well,” Harbhajan added. While talking about the rest of the two spinners in Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel, he said, “Jadeja is a very good with his line and length.”
“But if the wicket breaks a little bit, he could be a dangerous spinner to face. As far Axar is concerned, he gets good bounce from his deliveries because of his height.”
These are indeed welcome words of encouragement for the Indian spinners, from their ex-colleague, as they get ready to face the biggest challenge of their lives!
