The Champions League T20 journey for the Barbados Tridents was far from impressive as they only managed to win one game in the tournament but pacer Ravi Rampaul is taking positives from the disappointing campaign, which ended with a consolation win over the Northern Knights.

Barbados played few close games and lost one match in the Super Over. The tournament could have ended in a different manner for the Caribbean T20 champions but they failed to cling on to wins on crucial junctures.

Rampaul, meanwhile, insisted that playing in the Indian conditions will certainly help him in the forthcoming limited-overs series, starting October 8. The pacer added that CLT20 has helped him in getting used to Indian conditions and pitches.

“This exposure will help me prepare for the upcoming 5-match ODI series,” Rampaul insisted. “This will definitely help me in getting used to the conditions here in India and I will try and do well in the one-day series.”

“I understand it is a longer format of the game and you require a lot more patience,” he added. “I will be looking to assess the conditions and the pitches properly and then use the right variations at the right time.”

Apart from Chris Gayle, who is rehabilitating a lower-back injury, West Indies are heading with a full strength squad against India. The touring party has a good pace attack, featuring Rampaul, Jerome Taylor, Jason Holder and Kemar Roach.

“The squad that we will be bringing here has some good fast bowlers in the rank,” Rampaul pointed out. “We have Jason Holder and the experienced Jerome Taylor and Kemar Roach coming back into the squad. Once we rally along each other as a fast bowling unit, I think we can perform very well.”
