England middle-order batsman Ian Bell will take no further part in the ongoing one-day series against India as the right-hander is ruled out because of a broken left toe on Wednesday.

Bell sustained the injury during a training drill hours before the third ODI and was replaced by Gary Ballance in the playing XI. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has not named any replacement and in a statement informed about Bell’s injury.

“England and Warwickshire batsman Ian Bell has been ruled out of the final Royal London one-day international against India on Friday with a small fracture to his left big toe sustained yesterday before the one-day international at Edgbaston,” ECB said in the statement.

“Bell will not be replaced in the squad for the remaining match,” it reads.

Bell is one of the most prolific run scorers for England this season, with two half-centuries. Although, he failed to make cut for the one-off Twenty20 match against India, slated for September 10.

Ballance is expected to keep his place in the side, although he failed to make any impression on number three in the last ODI. He, however, was the second highest scorer, behind Joe Root, in the five-match Test series and accumulated 503 runs.
