Yuvraj Singh uncertain about his future with Team India

Hero of Team India’s 2011 World Cup triumph, Yuvraj Singh is not sure about his future with the national team and admitted that he might have played his last game for the men in blue. Yuvraj has been more in and out of the side since coming back from ill health and last played in April this year against Sri Lanka in the T20 World Cup.

The aggressive left-hander failed to make cut for the Sri Lanka series owing to lack of match practice but with a pack international schedule ahead he can fancy his chances of making a comeback. Yuvraj, however, insisted that he will keep himself pushing to get back into the team.

“Of course, there is a possibility that I may never play for India again,” Yuvraj told Wisden India. “I have considered that. But there is also the possibility that I might play for India again, and as long as I believe that I can come back and I have it in me, I’m going to keep pushing myself.”

“It’s always disappointing when you don’t make it to the side,” Yuvraj insisted. “But, that said, the last two years have been patchy, up and down. So it’s not my call whether I should be picked. Hopefully things will change, and I will be picked again, otherwise life will be very depressing. I can only try and do my best.”

Making to the World Cup squad will be Yuvraj’s ultimate goal but it is easier said than done for the southpaw. The 32-year-old is looking to grab the attention of the selectors by some solid performances in the domestic circuit.

“I can’t really speak about selection,” Yuvraj said. “What is the best opportunity that I have? Duleep Trophy, the Ranji one-dayers and whatever other games I can get. As I said, if I can make it to the squad, it will be a great story. It will be awesome to come back and play for India in a World Cup again. But if it doesn’t happen, life goes on. It will be hard to accept, but I’ll have to accept it.”
