AB de Villiers played a flowing innings against India A in practice match.

The South African team was also offered to play their Tuesday’s warm-up match against India A in Dharamshala, the venue for the first T20 opener against India.

But according to BCCI sources, the South Africa management rejected the offer because their players wanted a two-day break in Delhi before heading to Dharamshala.

After the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) couldn’t stage the practice match, the board had also considered Chandigarh Sector 16 stadium before staging the warm-up match at the Palam Cricket Ground in Delhi.

When asked why the board offered Dharamshala – the venue for the opening T20 game – for the practice match, a source revealed that “it was due to logistic convenience”. At the end of it, the board had to opt for a choice which was convenient to the South African team.
