Who will play on number 5 for India, Ajinkya Rahane or Karun Nair? The Indian captain, Virat Kohli has settled the debate. He has made it clear that Rahane will play for India in the one-off Test against Bangladesh.
Nair recently struck a triple-century against England in Chennai. He had replaced Rahane, who had an injured finger, in the team. The triple-ton has put Rahane’s place under threat in India’s packed middle-order.

“One game does not overshadow two years of hardwork from another player,” Kohli said. “That’s my point-of-view. You have to understand what Jinx has done for this team.”
“He is probably the most solid batsman in this form of the game,” he added.

Rahane now has recovered from the injury, and set to make a comeback. The one-off Test between India and Bangladesh will take place at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
“What Karun did was remarkable,” the Indian captain insisted. “As I said, you cannot overlook two years of hard work from Ajinkya. He walks back into the team whenever fit.”
