Be it from monetary or fan following perspective, there is no bigger cricketing affair than a series between India and Pakistan, and it is been a while these two sub-continent powerhouses have crossed paths in a bilateral series.
Political tension and terror situation have halted any steps toward organizing a series between the two countries, despite a constant push from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), and a series in December is unlikely to happen.
The Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) has already clarified that the series is not possible amidst current scenarios, as for the BCCI national interest is priority.
Pakistan T20 skipper Shahid Afridi, meanwhile, said there is no need to push for a series against India, after the Indian Cricket Board has refused for the same.
“I don’t know why we are pushing for series against India again and again,” Shahid Afridi said. “I don’t see any reason to play (against India) if they don’t want to play.”
“We have invited them and if they do not want to play then it shouldn’t be any worry, we are still happy.”
These are interesting comments from Shahid Afridi, seeing the monetary benefits a series with India would bring to the Pakistan Cricket Board.
