The highly successful day-night is not happening on the India any time soon.

The first-ever day-night Test between Australia and New Zealand might have turned out to be a huge success, but it isn’t happening anytime soon on the Indian soil.

A certain section of the cricket fraternity may have declared that the ‘pink ball innovation’ is here to stay, but the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) wants to give some more time before embracing it.

According to the BCCI sources, the board wants to see how the experiment with the pink ball survives and how the other Test playing nations accept it before going ahead with this new concept.

“The day-night cricket with pink ball has to be tested extensively before accepting it globally. The initial signs are good after the inaugural day-night Test between Australia and New Zealand in Adelaide.”

“But from here on, international cricket will need more day-night Tests to understand if this innovation can be a long-term thing,” a source close to the board told Drcricket7.

In India, the red ball is one of the defining features of Test cricket. To popularise the game further, the board recently included six venues for the existing 10 Test centres in India.

Even the day-night Test cricket is associated with the concept of drawing more crowds to the stadium. It’s an effort to keep Test cricket in perfect good health!
