Be it at home or overseas, India is a team to beat in the limited-overs format and it has been proven time and again. The Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led side is heading into the forthcoming World Cup 2015 as defending champions and is one of the title favorites.

Indian skipper MS Dhoni, who is currently taking a much-needed rest from the international cricket, is confident that Team India will manage to defend the title. Team India’s record in Australia is not that great but Dhoni insisted that his team is capable of adapting and performing in any conditions.

“Following the World Cup triumph in 2011, the India side won the 50-over ICC Champions Trophy in the United Kingdom,” Dhoni said. “This reflects the caliber and talent of the side, and its ability to adapt and perform in any condition.”

Team India is to play four Tests and then a tri-series, also featuring England, before the World Cup, starting February 14. The Indian captain pointed out the importance of playing in Australia before the big tournament and insisted that he is looking forward for the tournament.

“The tour to Australia in the lead up to the World Cup will be a good opportunity to hone our skills and, like all the sides participating in the tournament, be fully prepared for cricket’s ultimate prize,” Dhoni said about the forthcoming tour.

“The World Cup is the biggest prize in cricket and to defend the title in Australia and New Zealand next year is a special opportunity. Like all the players, as well as millions of die-hard India cricket supporters around the globe, I look forward to the tournament with anticipation and excitement.”
