Washington Sundar has impressed everyone with his consistency this season. The young spinner has filled Ravichandran Ashwin’s boots pretty well at Rising Pune Supergiants, and has turned into a vital cog for the team.
In the Qualifier 1 it was Sundar, who dismantled Mumbai’s top-order to give Pune an early advantage. He gave advantage to Pune, who eventually won the game to reach the final for the first time.
“MS Dhoni is the first person I go to when I have any doubts,” Sundar said. “Anything about a batsmen. Great to have someone like him and I am lucky to be playing with him. Not many would get chance to play with such big stars.”
“I am learning about approach from them. It’s been a challenge to bowl in powerplay,” he added. “Bowling against the likes of Gautam Gambhir and Shikhar Dhawan was challenging but I am happy to have done well.”
The Supergiants will face Mumbai Indians in the big final on Sunday. They have already beaten Mumbai thrice this season, and heading into the final as dark horses. The final will take place in Hyderabad.
