The message is loud and clear from the Indian dressing room. MS Dhoni is the undisputed leader of the team in ODIs and T20s.
This was revealed during a brief interaction with some of the senior cricketers in the team who believe that Dhoni is far from over.
“He is the best man to lead India right now I the shorter formats. There isn’t anyone who can match him in terms of ability both a player and captain.”
“He should be continue to captain India till the 2019 World Cup,” the cricketer, who didn’t wish to be named, told Drcricket7 on Thursday.
Some of Dhoni’s teammates don’t mind seeing him making a Test comeback. “He should have been playing Test cricket. But he chose to retire and extend his stint in ODI and T20 cricketer. Therefore, there is no question of Dhoni not captaining the side in limited over formats,” the player said.
It was also learnt that Dhoni’s participation during the Zimbabwe series is to ensure that he takes a good look at the young players who could be a part of international cricket in the days to come.
“It will be a huge boost for the youngsters to rub their shoulder with Dhoni. The board is also hoping to get some inputs on these players from Dhoni,” the source added.
