Change in conditions have done nothing good to Virat Kohli, as the stylist right-hander got out cheaply in the first one-dayer against West Indies. Kohli was dismissed in same fashion, caught in slips while playing an away swinger, which troubled him during the England tour.

Kohli wasn’t the only Indian batsmen that faltered in the opening encounter but the way he got out was a point of concern. The right-hander is having a tough time against the moving ball and is facing a slump in form.

Former Indian skipper Sunil Gavaskar insisted that the Delhi batsman should play at number five, despite being a prolific run-getter at number three for Team India. Gavaskar said dropping down the order will help Kohli regain his form and will not expose his weakness further.

“Virat Kohli’s problems have been against the moving ball, on the off-stump and playing away from the body,” Gavaskar said. “Against the new balls, those problems can be further exposed. Therefore, Kohli can be held off till No.5 and he could get back to runs that way.”

The former opener also said that the Indian team management should remain flexible with the batting order and try different players at altered positions before the World Cup.
