The Indian team produced one of the best comebacks with the bat against Australia. After been reduced to 11-3, they managed to post 281 on the board. And, they eventually won the game to take 1-0 lead in the series.
Australia captain Steve Smith pointed out that his team failed to capitalise on the good start. The Aussies reduced the hosts to 11-3, but India crawled back with a match-changing partnership between MS Dhoni and Hardik Pandya.
“It was interesting. We bowled very well with the new ball, but we let the Indians off,” Smith said. “MS and Hardik played really well – probably the match-winning partnership. We couldn’t capitalize on the start.”
“The new ball was stopping a bit and some were skidding on,” Smith said. “It was quite difficult to face. We lost too many wickets in the middle. We can’t control the weather. You can only play to whatever happens in the middle.”
