The selectors have axed Yuvraj Singh from the squad announced for the limited-overs series against Sri Lanka. Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, meanwhile, have been rested for the five ODIs and one-off T20 game.
As expected, Manish Pandey and KL Rahul have found place in the 15-member squad. India’s limited-overs specialists Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav have returned in the Virat Kohli-led squad.
Yuvraj’s place in the team was under the scanner since his dismal performance lately. He failed to fire in Champions Trophy. And against the West Indies, too, his performance was below-par to his standards.

“His batting has lost sting,” a senior BCCI official said. “He rarely bowls and his fielding has gone down a few notches. If we have to prepare a team for 2019 World Cup, we had to take a call now.”
