The Indian team has continued its dominating run in Sri Lanka with another thumping win over the Islanders. India have stretched their series lead to 4-0 in the series with a 168-run win in Colombo.
Virat Kohli, the Indian captain, struck a scorching hundred, his 29th in the ODIs. Rohit Sharma, meanwhile, scored his 2nd successive hundred in the series. The Indian team posted a whooping 375 after electing to bat first.
That wasn’t all. Manish Pandey and MS Dhoni stitched an unbeaten partnership for the sixth wicket. Mahendra Singh Dhoni, meanwhile, become the 6th Indian to play 300th one-dayers in Sri Lanka vs India 4th ODI result.
“It was one of the good games for us,” Kohli said. “We spoke about not getting complacent at any stage and today was a clinical performance. Today was about doing things the way we wanted to do and I think it is a very satisfying day.”
On the other hand, Sri Lanka could only manage 207 in reply. Apart from Angelo Mathews, other Sri Lankan batsmen failed to cash-in on the opportunity. He made a fighting 80-ball 70 for the Lankan Lions.
“We are still to get 250 in the series,” Lasith Malinga said. “I think the youngsters are too excited and couldn’t perform well to their potential. Hopefully they will comeback strong and perform well in the coming games.”
