It was as clinical as it could get in Dambulla. The Indians thrashed Sri Lanka left, right and center to register a thumping nine-wicket win in the series opener. Be it bowlers or batsmen, everyone was at the top of their game.
India right after winning the toss stomped its authority over the Lankan Lions. They first dismantled their batting line-up with some superb bowling. Later, the batsmen completed a clinical chase over the Islanders.
“We thought we’d be chasing something close to 300,” Virat Kohli said. “It was a brilliant wicket for batting.”

“The whole idea of winning the toss and bowling first was hoping that the wicket would be slightly slow in the day,” he added. “The ball was coming onto the bat like a dream under lights and Shikhar and me enjoyed batting together.”
Dhawan continued his purple patch with bat and struck his 11th century in the ODIs. He also made his sixth successive score 50 plus total against Sri Lanka in the one-dayers.
Captain Kohli also made an unbeaten fifty and stitched a match-winning partnership with Dhawan.
