The Indian selectors might rest Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin for the ODI series against England. This is to ensure that both spinners remain fit for the Test series against Australia and Bangladesh.
Ashwin and Jadeja featured in all five Test matches against England. They played an instrumental role in India’s Test series win over England, and currently sit at the top of ICC Test Rankings.
According to reports, Shikhar Dhawan might play in the practice matches against England. He had injured his thumb against New Zealand. And, since then, struggling to get into the Indian team.

The reports also suggest that Ajinkya Rahane is keen in playing practice match. He, however, might not be allowed to play as a precautionary measure. Rahane had injured his thumb during a practice session recently.
India will play six limited-overs matches (ODIs and T20s) against England in January. The team will also have a conditioning camp before the series in Bengaluru, and a couple of practice matches against England.
