According to latest reports, the players are made to undergo random fitness tests. Shankar Basu, India’s conditioning coach, put players through a rigorous training drills after they finish their regular practice routines.
“The fitness aspect has always been there,” Shikhar Dhawan said. “It is just that it is now more in prominence because it is very important that everyone in the team should be at the same level of fitness.”
“This is because fitness is a major part in all three departments,” the Indian Cricket Team’s opener pointed out. “One moment of poor fielding can change the momentum of the game.”
