Ajinkya Rahane was India’s highest run-scorer in the West Indies. He didn’t get a game in the Champions Trophy, but gave the Indian team much-needed bench strength. Had anyone got injured, Rahane was there to replace him.
Rahane was a key player when Mahendra Singh Dhoni was incharge. Being the vice-captain of the Test team, he now shoulders more responsibility under Virat Kohli. He recently led the team to win in Dharamshala against Australia.
“He told me you are the best and know how to handle the situation,” Rahane said. “When the captain asks you to bat with freedom and says I am backing you and the team is with you, what more do you want.”

The Mumbai batsman said that it is good for Team India to have both MS Dhoni and Kohli working together.
“It’s great to have MS Dhoni around. We are all lucky to have him,” Rahane insisted
“It becomes easier for Virat with him around,” he further added. “Many times Virat went and asked him opinions and he comes up with great ideas. It’s good to see both of them working together.”
