MS Dhoni on Kevin Pietersen: His Injury is ‘Blessing in Disguise’

Kevin Pietersen

How many times have we seen Kevin Pietersen getting injured in the Indian Premier League? Almost every season. And, it happened this time as well.

Pietersen injured his calf muscle during Rising Pune Supergiants run-chase, and was stretchered off the field. He didn’t took the field after that.

Pune’s skipper MS Dhoni has hinted that the injury has ruled KP out atleast for some time. He, meanwhile, called his injury a ‘blessing in disguise’.

The Supergiants skipper now has an option of adding either Mitchell Marsh or Albie Morkel into the playing XI in the next match. Adam Zampa is also in line to play.

“KP’s injury can be a blessing in disguise,” MS Dhoni said. “We’re playing with six bowlers, yet our death bowling isn’t great. Maybe we can look to bring in Albie Morkel or Mitch Marsh in the next game.”

“With the kind of players we’ve got, it has always been difficult to drop someone,” he added. “We need to strengthen our bowling line a bit.”

Pune need to make some quick changes in the upcoming matches to bring their campaign right on track, as they currently are at the second last spot in the league.

The Supergiants have now lost three matches in a row. They are set to face Kolkata Knight Riders in their second home match on Sunday.
