Jharkhand has first time reached the semifinals of the Ranji Trophy. They played some good cricket, and defeated the likes of Haryana to reach the last-four stage of the premier domestic tournament of the country.
Players like Shahbaz Nadeem and Ishan Kishan have managed to play to their potential in this year’s tournament. They have credited their success to MS Dhoni, who is mentoring and helping Jharkhand players this season.
“Dhoni bhai saw me at the nets and walked up to me and said that I needed to curtail my attacking instincts to begin with,” Kishan said. “He believed that to play a long innings I needed to be a little more compact. I did just that.

“He asked me to change my stance as well and when it comes from someone like Dhoni bhai, you know you can trust his observation,” he added. “I got time to rework my stance and train with my new stance.”
Dhoni has retired from Test cricket. He trains with his state side to remain fit for the international limited-overs assignments. This season he is also mentoring Jharkhand to help the young cricketers coming out of the state.
