Mahendra Singh Dhoni has silenced his critics with a couple of match-winning knocks in Sri Lanka. The experienced general held the innings together in Pallekele, and showed what he brings to the Indian Cricket Team.
MS Dhoni also ensured that any speculations about his immediate future also be put to rest. He established himself as a vital cog for the Indian team in the upcoming 2019 World Cup in the United Kingdom.
“I don’t think anyone can replace MS Dhoni at this point of time,” Virender Sehwag insisted. “Rishabh Pant is good but he would also need time to replace him. But that can only happen after 2019.”
Dhoni’s presence and experience in the dressing room is unmatchable. The way he marshaled the innings in 2nd and 3rd ODI showed the invaluable experience he brings to the table.
“We should not worry about whether Dhoni is scoring runs or not,” Sehwag said. “We should only pray that MS Dhoni is fit till 2019 World Cup. The experience that he has in the middle & the lower middle order, no one has that.”
The Indian team is currently leading the five-match series 3-0, after three successive matches.
