Australia completed a thumping nine-wicket win over the West Indies inside three day in Dominica to take a one game lead in the two-match Test series.

The Michael Clarke-led Australia dominated the game right from the word go and took the game under their control by bundling the hosts in the opening day itself.

West Indies tried to crawl back into the contest with leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo getting early wickets, but Adam Voges made a gutsy century on debut and ensured Australia have the upper hand.

Australia pacers, again, rose to the occasion and dismantled West Indies in the second innings as well. Mitchell Starc was the wrecker-in-chief and was supported by Mitchell Johnson and Josh Hazlewood.

“I think we played really well as a team to be honest in conditions that are certainly opposite to what you’re accustomed to in Australia,” Clarke said.

“I think we bowled really well in our first innings, we found a way to get a good lead and then I thought we fought really hard throughout today on a wicket that was extremely slow, so there wasn’t much there for our bowlers.

“To be able to take 20 wickets is credit to the way they fought,” he added. “I’ve always been a big believer in I don’t care who takes the wickets, who gets the runs, it’s about getting it done and I think we did that as a team.”
