First one day international between India and Sri Lanka will be played on 10 December 2017 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) stadium located in Dharamsala has a capacity of about 23000. The stadium has excellent pitches as there is a swing for pacers, steady spin for spinners.

However, India has steered clear win over the visitors in the test match series. With the win, India has registered its consecutive 9th test match win.

Virat Kohli (50) and Rohit Sharma (50*) made quick-fire fifties as India declared their second innings with the score on 246 for 5, giving Sri Lanka a target of 410 runs to win the Test on day 4 of the final test in the three test series.

Virat “record-breaking” Day 3 of the test

India declared their first innings for 536/7 on day 2. Indian captain scored 243 runs with a healthy strike rate of over 84 in the third test. He faced 287 deliveries and hit 25 fours in his innings. In the process, the Indian skipper broke many records on his way to 243-his career best in test cricket. Before getting out to Sandakan, he helped Indian team to post a huge total against the Lankan side. Meanwhile, on the first day of the test, Kohli along with Murali Vijay added 283 runs for the third wicket. Vijay scored 155 runs in the innings before being stumped by Dickwella. Kohli & Rohit Sharma also made a crucial partnership of 135 runs for the fifth wicket. Rohit made 65 runs in the innings and was dismissed by Sandakan.

Records made by Kohli in India vs Sri Lanka Delhi test: –

  • Six double hundreds for Kohli in test matches in the last 18 months. He has equaled the Indian record for most double hundreds. Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag also scored six double hundreds for India.
  • He went past the record set by Brian Lara, who scored five double hundreds in 85 innings as captain. Virat Kohli only took 50 innings to score six double hundreds. Now, he holds the record for most double hundreds by any captain.
  • He became the sixth player overall and second Indian player after Vinod Kambli to hit two consecutive double hundreds in tests.
  • He is the only player to score three double hundreds in a calendar year. He also hit three double hundreds in 2016.
  • 243 by Kohli is the highest individual score by an Indian captain in tests. He broke his own record of 235 against England in Wankhede last season.
  • 243 by Kohli is the record for most runs scored by an individual at Feroz Shah Kotla. He went past the 62-year record set by New Zealand’s Bert Sutcliffe who made 230 runs in 1955 against the Indian team.
  • Kohli became the 11th Indian player to score 5000 runs in test cricket. Only Sir Don Bradman has more centuries (21) at the time of reaching 5000 runs compared to Kohli’s 20.
  • 560 runs scored by Kohli this series – the most for an Indian in a Test series of three or fewer games. He went past the tally of 542 runs set by Sehwag against Pakistan in 2005.
